FAQS

DO YOU HAVE A CAKE PRICE LIST?

All our cakes are customised to suit each event and/or specific requests. Prices vary depending on cake size & tiers, design complexity, collection/delivery, etc. and will be provided in initial quote.

THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN REQUESTING A QUOTE:

What event are you planning? This may determine portions & cake size (e.g. birthdays generally serve party/dessert slices while coffee slices are usually served at weddings & corporate events.

How many guests do you aim to feed, and/or will other desserts be required or provided? If your cake will be the main dessert, it is best to consider serving larger portion sizes & increasing your cake size to cater to all guests. Alternatively, you can opt for a smaller cake if there will be other desserts offered.

Who will be cutting your cake? Venue's will almost always cut the cake for you, providing the correct amount of serves most of the time, while cutting the cake yourself at home, for example, can be tricky as our portions are very specific for each cake size. For this reason, consider requesting slightly more portions to cater for possible loss of serves.

Is your cake to be displayed, or devoured? We cannot always provide foam tier/s as certain designs are not attainable with this material. We also highly suggest opting for a grander REAL cake to enjoy rather than a fake display cake + slab as all cakes have the same base rate & similar charges will still be incurred for hours of labour involved.
Would you like to keep any tier/s or save some cake for later? Your cake can be best enjoyed fresh for up to 5 days stored air-tight in the refrigerator, or 2-3 months in the freezer. Should you wish to take a tier home to store, please notify us as we can provide a suitable cake box upon collection/delivery.

Please note, all serves are approximate and should be used as a guide only. Your cake may give fewer or more portions depending on how your cake is cut.

Our standard cakes generally have 4 layers of sponge, averaging 5" - 6" deep, meaning standard serves can be split for higher guest numbers, serving up to double the amount of portions as 'coffee' slices.

Please get in touch for a custom cake size. All quotes will initially include a recommended cake size with portions included.

HOW DO I CUT MY CAKE?

HOW MUCH NOTICE DO YOU REQUIRE?

Cakes are booked on a first-in, first-served basis. Therefore, it is best to provide notice & pay a retainer fee to lock in your date as soon as possible, especially for weddings, as we receive enquiries up to 1 year in advance.
For smaller cakes, we require minimum 2 weeks' notice as this provides enough time to discuss, confirm quote & finalise brief.

HOW MANY FLAVOURS CAN I CHOOSE?

You can choose up to 1 flavour per tier. Off-menu flavours are only available for prospect wedding clients.

DO YOU OFFER CAKE TASTING?

Yes, we do! These are available to order at any time from here. Minimum 2 weeks' notice is required for preparation & in case of delays.

CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE FOR DIETARY REQUIREMENTS?

Vegan, Dairy-Free, Gluten-Free & Egg-Free cakes are available to order. However, we do not cater to people with allergies as nuts, dairy, gluten & soy are used in our kitchen.

DO YOU ONLY USE AMERICAN BUTTERCREAM?

As all our signature cakes are made from scratch, American Buttercream is best paired with Sam's sponge & chocolate cakes. Ganache is available and sometimes used for the final (outer,) coat of larger tiered wedding cakes to accommodate certain designs & hot weather.
Swiss/Italian Meringue buttercream not available.

DO YOU PROVIDE FOAM (FAKE) CAKES/TIERS?
We do not provide discounts for foam tier/s as the same amount of time & costs go into incorporating them into your cake, and it can be more difficult to work with. While some designs can be amended to suit the addition of foam tier/s, Sam is well-known for her delicious tasting cakes and flavour pairings so we highly recommend opting for the full experience.

DO YOU PROVIDE DELIVERY?

Yes, delivery can be arranged to all locations within Sydney, NSW starting from $49.95. This is subject to availability & is highly recommended for wedding cakes. For a specific delivery quote or request, please enquire further.

CAN I PICK UP MY CAKE?

Cake collection is available from Blacktown, NSW 2148 and must be organised in advance - due to our busy delivery schedules we may or may not be available should you arrive outside our agreed pick-up time frame. Address will be provided once your order is confirmed. All cakes are fully boxed & covered for secure & stable transportation.

Unless we are providing delivery services, all cakes that have left the premises are no longer our responsibility. Should any damage occur to your cake after collection, we will gladly repair damages if returned in the same condition & uneaten (may incur additional fees.)
Strictly no refunds will be given for damages out of our control and/or if the cake is not returned in the same damaged condition.

HOW SHOULD I TRANSPORT MY CAKE?

Cakes are best transported on a flat surface, such as the floor or boot of your vehicle, and air-conditioning must be on at all times.
We will happily email our Cake Care Guide to those worried about collecting their cake which contains detailed guidance on transporting, storing & serving.

WHEN SHOULD THE CAKE BE PUT ON DISPLAY, AND FOR HOW LONG?

Cakes can & should be put on display in an air-conditioned room roughly 1-2 hours before an event begins to allow enough time for the cake to thaw before serving. As all our cakes are layered with American Buttercream, it is not advised for a cake to be out of the fridge or on display for more than 6 hours.
However, exceptions apply for all wedding cakes with a final coat of white chocolate ganache (air-tight & stable.)

DO YOU PROVIDE UNDECORATED CAKES?

While undecorated cakes are available, due to food safety & insurance purposes, we do not allow florists to decorate our cakes for weddings and/or other occasions. However, we are happy to liaise with vendors to organise collection/delivery of flowers or on-site decoration.
We strongly advise that you allow us the opportunity to organise florals for quality control, health & safety purposes, so we can ensure flowers are as fresh as possible & in the best conditions to be used for cake decorating.

CAN YOU COPY 'THIS' DESIGN?

We like to describe our design style as 'intuitive.' Meaning, we are able to connect with certain elements & flow of design to attain a desired outcome or aesthetic. While inspiration images are welcome to get an idea of design, we do not directly replicate other cakes for copyright reasons & personal preference.
If you desire an exact replica that is not within or of our particular style, we would be happy to provide suggestions for alternative local cake decorators.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

Retainer fees (50% deposit) are non-refundable.

Credits (minus a 20% admin fee,) are provided at our discretion and may be given should you require postponing your order to a new date before cut-off, 2 weeks prior. A postponement without a secured date will be considered a cancellation.

No refunds or credits will be issued for cancellations made within 2 weeks of required date, and a 20% administration surcharge will be incurred for postponement to a new date.
